| Farchette & Hanley Real Estate had its beginning in 1930 when Mr. John Farchette operated the business out of his local hardware store, “Farchette’s Hardware”, in downtown Christiansted. John sold everything from hammers to houses, and as the real estate industry took shape, he was on the cutting edge, providing buyers and sellers the service they needed for real estate purchases and sales. Eventually he became so popular at real estate sales, he gave up selling all the other “stuff”, and soon opened an office solely for the practice of real estate. Farchette Real Estate was born. Jan Hanley partnered with John Farchette in 1983 to form "Farchette and Hanley Real Estate". Together they grew the firm from a "one-man show" to a multi-agent operation, and slowly began picking up market share as the early 1980's market began to expand. | |
| Through their
unending diligence and hard work, they began to create a strong
reputation, which has become a hallmark of Farchette & Hanley's
position in the Virgin Islands' real estate industry. After his
death in 1985, Jan purchased John's share of the partnership from his
family.
In 1989, her son, Chris Hanley, came into the industry and became her partner in 1991. A few years later, Chris acquired full ownership of the company and has expanded to a second office location. In 1998, Farchette & Hanley opened a second office at the famous Carambola Golf Resort, to take advantage of the ever-growing popularity and opportunities that the golf industry offers. Chris is now Principal Broker for 10 full time agents with the firm. |
