The Virgin Islands Pace Runners hosted the 19th Annual Children’s Color Run early Friday evening. The event was the start of a Jump-Up, hosted by the Christiansted Retail and Restaurant Association. This weekend marks the 29th and final time St. Croix will host the Ironman 70.3 Triathlon (Sunday).
The Color Run is a chance for St. Croix’s future triathlete hopefuls to hone their race skills! Hundreds of children ages 13 and under participated in the race. Every child who registered and ran the race Friday received a medal for participating.
The “color” in the Color Run comes from dyed corn starch in every color of the rainbow, which the runners were showered with before and during the race. The route starts at Sunday Market Square and goes down King Street to Fort Christiansvaern (approximately one-third of a mile).
