Caribbean Color: St. Croix Homes Far From Boring Beige

The most common exterior colors for island homes are soft yellows, blues and pinks.  Many islanders chose to keep it simple with white exterior, adding color with trim or tropical landscaping.

Interior Color

There are no off-limit colors for a home’s interior on St. Croix.  You will see every bold color of the rainbow from mustard yellows, to bright reds and coral oranges.  Islanders are often inspired by the surrounding ocean color palette and choose blues or teals for their interior paint.  And we’re not just talking an occasional accent wall.  St. Croix homes often have every wall of a room painted in an eye-popping color.

Some island homes staged for sale have been transitioned to a neutral interior color palette to broadly appeal to more prospective buyers.

Interior Design

Most St. Croix residents let the island inspire the interior design and decor of their homes.  Open floor plans are meant to let the light and ocean breeze in.  Often incorporated in homes are beautiful woods, such as local mahogany or teak.

In terms of furnishings, you won’t find a Rooms To Go on St. Croix.  While we do have a handful of large furniture stores with name brand, custom order capabilities.  But a few smaller stores are ideal to source island-style pieces like Sweet Lime Furnishings, Sampson House and Patalidis Designers.
