Dining Around St. Croix: East End

Many stateside transplants to St. Croix live on the east end of the island, along the north shore.  Here you find beautiful housing with exquisite Buck Island views, along with several condominium complexes such as Carden Beach and Coakley Bay.  If you choose to live east, here are a few of the restaurants you can look forward to having nearby.

Blue Water Terrace

One of the owners of Blue Water Terrace is famous for her fried chicken, but this restaurant boasts a diverse menu that includes such comfort foods plus fresh seafood and more.  Anticipate generous portions ample to share.  A great place for weekend brunch.

The market adjacent to the restaurant has grab-and-go options like carving meats, salads  and desserts.  They also stock basics for east enders like milk, bread, eggs and produce (and naturally since it’s St. Croix, a good selection of wine and liquor).

Duggan’s Reef

If you’re looking for fresh Caribbean lobster caught locally, Duggan’s Reef is the place to be.  This long-established island favorite right on the beach, lends itself to a menu of primarily seafood.  They also offer brunch.

Galleon

Buried among the buildings at Tamarind Reef Resort / Green Cay Marina, The Galleon is not to be missed.  Start with the tuna appetizer and then a spinning Caesar salad created table-side.  Listen carefully to the entree specials, which are generally the most delicious options.

If you’re into wine, you’ll feel right at home with an extensive selection and knowledgeable staff.  The Galleon often hosts wine tasting events.

Terrace at The Buccaneer

Dine at the terrace with an ocean view from high above.  Start with the Lobster Bisque and then choose one of the salads made with fresh, locally-grown ingredients.  The steak entrees are phenomenal, but you can’t go wrong considering the reputation of the executive chef.
