Designer Debbie Sun (debbie sun DESIGN STUDIO) has been busy preparing to showcase new pieces.  On Art Thursday in December (12-15-16) in Christiansted; she is slated to release a line of Spanish hand fans, scarves and note cards with new designs; just in time for the holidays.  Sun is also busy finishing a commissioned piece for a restaurant.

Well known for beautiful textiles, Sun creates and sells distinctive accent pillows, table toppers and napkins.  She also designs a line of greeting cards inspired by her tapestries.  One of Sun’s most recent and prominent projects is the textiles inside the renovated Caravelle Hotel & Casino in downtown Christiansted.  Her work was also the cover art for the November 2016 issue of St. Croix This Week and Caribbean Journal published an article about Sun in April.  Sweet Lime Furnishings on St. Croix also sells accent pillows by Debbie Sun.

When designing, Sun cites her most influential inspirations as architecture and nature.  She was born in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago; grew up on St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands; and truly loves Caribbean life.  Sun studied architecture at The University of California at Berkeley and also lived in Barcelona, Spain for part of her life.  She says the reason she returned to St. Croix to live is because on this island “inspiration and beauty abound.”
