USVI Pageant News from Summer 2014

Miss Virgin Islands Caribbean United States

August 17 on St. Thomas, Britanny Robinson was crowned Miss Virgin Islands Caribbean United States.  She will represent the territory at the Miss Caribbean United States Pageant next year in New York.  Robinson won the titles of Miss Photogenic, Miss Internet, Miss Intellect and V.I. Spokeswoman 2014.  

The first runner-up was Isabella Sylvester who won the talent competition and tied for Miss Intellect.

Miss Virgin Islands Puerto Rico Friendship

August 24 on St. Croix, Jahniqua Cintron was crowned Miss Virgin Islands Puerto Rico Friendship 2014.  She is a 15 year old junior at St. Croix Educational Complex High School.  

Alayah Watley won the title of Miss Virgin Islands Puerto Rico Friendship Princess 2014.  She is a six year old second grade student at Evelyn Williams Elementary School.

Earlier this summer, Ashley Gabriel of St. Thomas was crowned Miss Virgin Islands 2014.  She is poised to compete for Miss America on September 14.  The scholarship competition will be broadcast live on ABC from Atlantic City’s Boardwalk Hall.  Voting is currently open for the America’s Choice finalist at Miss America on the pageant’s website.  Gabriel continues fundraising for Children’s Miracle Network, with online donations available through her page.

Miss Virgin Islands Outstanding Teen

Cereyna Bougouneau recently competed for the title of Miss America Outstanding Teen, where she was a finalist in the top 10.  Continuing her achievements, she received second prize in the 2014 Congressional Black Caucus Spouses Essay Contest.  For her impressive piece written about cyber-bullying, Bougouneau will be awarded a $1000 scholarship at the Congressional Black Caucus Spouses Issue Forum on September 25 in Washington, D.C.  She is a junior at Good Hope Country Day School on St. Croix.

Pageantry plays a large role in island culture with some contests dating back more than 50 years.
