USVI Represents at the Olympics

For the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, 5 athletes from the U.S. Virgin Islands (USVI) will be competing, but they will do so as part of Team USA, under the flag of the United States.

The USVI has a history of participating in the Olympics, and its athletes often compete in track and field, swimming, and other sports. The USVI has its own National Olympic Committee, the Virgin Islands Olympic Committee (VIOC), which is responsible for selecting and supporting athletes from the territory.

The USVI made their Olympic debut at the 1968 Summer Olympics in Mexico City. Since then, they have participated in both the Summer and Winter Olympics. The territory has sent athletes to compete in various sports, including athletics, sailing, boxing, and bobsleigh.

The USVI made their Winter Olympics debut in 1988 in Calgary. They have participated in various Winter Games, although not as consistently as the Summer Games.

The competitors, Nicholas D’Amour – archery; Eduardo Garcia in the marathon; Kruz Schembri – fencing; and Natalia Kuipers and Maximillian “Max” Wilson in swimming

The Virgin Islands Olympic Committee (VIOC) is responsible for organizing the USVI’s participation in the Olympics. The VIOC was established in 1967 and gained recognition from the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in the same year.

The USVI continues to nurture and develop its athletes, aiming for success and representation on the international stage at future Olympic Games.
